The Life of violet, the jardini.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Beautiful jardini and tank. The water is really clear.
I wouldn't recommend having another arowana in there though. I also don't think there's a way to properly sex arowanas.

Thanks! I have a couple fluval 405's and a sump full of polishing pads to keep the water spotless. Thanks for your advise, I wanted to keep some other fish with her and threw in about 30 small-med feeder fish and within a day and a half she ate them all.. So yea shes staying by herself, i was hoping she should let a couple live and be her friends haha

She's looking good scales have heeled up well after loosing so many , getting another jar may end in disaster for violet , how you know she's a she ? I'm not sure what sex my new jar is its only 6" baby still :)

Just a feeling shes a girl haha, anal fins are still a little small for comparison to debate if its a she or he but i just have a feeling its a girl. She used to be super nice for about a month when she was 7-8 inches before all hell broke loose. When cleaning the tank "she" would rub on my hands so maybe from that experience i believed shes a girl? Just guessing shes a girl though lol

I can understand that hahaha , my last one was almost definitely a male he was the route of all evil but I loved him ;)
I'm trying to tame my new new one a little so he/she dont smash every tankmate I ever put with it to bits

This old viet lady from a lfs said some wise words to me with a thick accent. Start young and never separate them even if there ripped apart. I guess its partially true but some fish are just evil no matter what haha

Hahaha she may be onto something though because thats what I did with my jag cichlid , he managed to live with my jar for few years he did get battered loads of times but survived just defended his territory and stood his ground (he's now the don of my main tank until the ray outgrows him i suppose)

I currently have a jag as well haha! Seems as we have similar taste in fish. I dont believe that mine can live with my jardini though.. My jag killed a two foot silver when i bought her about 4 years ago and is still as mean as can be.

Very similar "killers" :)
I think my jag is going to have to go on his own or part of a pair in a diff tank once my new jardini is big enough for main tank , im pretty sure once he see's a small jar he'll kill it on sight to get his own back for years of abuse from my other one that battered him for years (made him the tuff nut he is today imo :D )

Heres a little quick video of Violet during a water change, shes currently around 15 inches and doing well.

And heres a little extra clip of a jag that hates the magnet cleaner lol. Makes cleaning the tank a little harder haha.

The jardini is still in the 220 and the jag is in a 110!
