  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have had my Tigrinus cat with my rays for over 7 years now with no problems

Yes my big rays jump the cat from time to time but no real damage

That's great to hear .I was thinking of getting one to.
But they get pretty big.
Right now, my clean up crew is 3 bala sharks and a 12 in clown knife.

They take years to grow and stay smaller than jurence or tiger shovel nose

They grow fast up to 12-14" then slow down mine to ages to grow from 16" to 28" ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1387111373.427576.jpg

I really like that. My wife would go nuts over it. She loves anything zebra stripped. Might have to look around and see if I can find me one of those.

I wouldn't get any type of cat with a widemouth. The reason for clean up crew is to pick up little scraps of food left over. A cat like a rtc or shovel nose is going to need large meals along with the rays which if not he won't live off of little scraps and dibree left behind. Plus if he could eat or kill your other fish even rays if he's Hungary and not fed enough. You need a cat like a ripsaw, somwthing that is good at finding little chunks of food, they have a small mouth and don't eat other fish. They are also armored and hardy so they rays or other fish won't kill or harm them.

I agree about the mouth situation. However, my Niger cat was a fatty and would take down entire massivore pellets. Also they get huge. Mine got to about 11inches before I sold it to Strollo. I got it after I purchased a much smaller megaladora cat anf the niger quickly doubled it in size.

Yeah true mine gotten huge and they can be pigs but just an example of what should be used for a clean up crew. Something that has a small mouth, that normally digs around looking for food and to top it of is hard and armored.

Well, he seems to be eating the larger extra pieces left behind and the loaches so far are doing ok at cleaning up the little pieces. Im still looking for tinfoil barbs and SD's to do the rest.

Mine eats any left over pellets the trick with tig are don't spot feed them or they won't swim around much a slim tig is a healthy tig

One thing I will say is they are rubbish hunters and a few times mine has snapped at pellets and got a mouth full of ray sting once he couldn't close his mouth for a week
