Silver Arow self inflicting injuries

I can't figure out why my 20''+ silver keeps knocking off his scales. he usually knocks one off here and there about every couple weeks but then today he knocked off like 5-6 scales. He is in a 300 gal 6x3 with perfect water. no tank mate troubles either. i keep lighting dimmed also. Any Arow pros have any insight on this?? thanks


Take mates are
2x 13-16'' henlei rays
1x very friendly flag tail
1x smaller Dat
1x 2x 7" red spotted severums
couple other peaceful fish

When I had my big silver he was in a 8' 300 gallon he constantly mashed himself for no reason. My black aro I have now is just the opposite very calm. I think silvers just need huge tanks not 6' or 8' long.

its kind of the impression I've been getting. its really dumb... i feel bad every time but think to myself of all the arrows I've seen in smaller tanks with no issues.
