My Clown Knife

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah but you are looking at a 150, I'm getting a 6 x 2.5 x 2 which holds 225 gallons.

Not to be rude, but 1 extra foot in length + 0.5 foot extra width wont help very much considering the fish...

If you said 600G+ tank, then yeah, maybe you could spread the aggression more easily with those large fish

Yeah but it's recommended, clown knife over 200 gallons and jardini over 180.

What he is saying, is that silver dollars can be used as dither fish. With the jardini and clown knife by themselves the jardini would target the clown knife. But say you had 10 silver dollars, then the jardini's aggression would be diffused onto the multiple dithers and not the single clown knife.

He saying to use them as target fish. Which is a terrible idea. They will all most likely end up dead.

You also must remember, that those numbers are the recommendation for each fish to live comfortably by themselves... once you start adding tankmates into the equation, the math starts adding up...

As a random example, South American Puffers each need around 30G, but they also prefer to be in groups of 3 or more... but that doesn't mean you should try and fit 3 into a 30G tank, but more like setup a 90G to give them each enough space to roam around without feeling / being cramped...

So if you for example; wanted to house a Knife and an Aro together, (using your math) you'd be looking more into a min of around 350G+

And come on man. How the heck would you need a 350 just for 2 fish?

Naturally it depends on a lot of variables such as the disposition of the fish and the type of fish in question etc... but if they are large naturally aggressive fish + extremely territorial and you want to house both in the same tank for whatever reason, its not all that hard to imagine a large tank only housing two fish... and that also doesn't mean you can't throw in a couple of dithers neither just for some movement..

Anyway, i just wanted to throw that out there since at the end of the day you'll still do what you want to regardless of advise, and i guess only experiencing mistakes firsthand along with the deaths of your fish will help you learn...

So i'll just leave it there and say good luck with it, and hopefully we'll soon see a thread from you with your new big tank...

Ok, but 6 foot by 2.5 by 2 is really big. Its a huge setup.

Lol,it sure is.
