Took into account everyones suggestions but heres what I picked for my tank. All fish are an inch or less. 5 blue red head Fenestratus, 5 Maculicauda, 4 Argentea, 6 Bifasciatus Rio Chacamax and 2 Bocourti.

Thanks! Gotta tell you Im really happy with the Bifa Rio Chacamax I got from Wetspot. They are maybe 3/4 inch and the color on the fins is already nice.
Keep us updated. I always wanted black belts for my vieja community, but I stayed away. Too many people said it didn't work for them.
I've grown my vieja out from 1in fish & so far I have found their aggression to be exaggerated. I've had my community going for about 15months now & still consider myself a noob.

Nice fish! Just a heads up... my experiences with red head fenes and black belts are that they become terrors when they get large. You have a considerable amount of time before that happens, of course... but just a warning, in case you don't know. Every fish has a different personality, but that has been my experience with those two species. Good luck!

I agree with you. I have a 210 gallon vieja community (video posted in media lounge), and my fish get along great. But took some trial and error. As with most species, some vieja are more temperamental than others, and even then, each fish has a different personality. Biggest concerns on his list that I'd say are the black belts and the red head fenes... but again, he's quite a bit aways before they possibly become a problem, and even then, who knows...

You & I are on the same page Rich. I took into account everyone's opinion on different vieja when deciding on my stocklist, ultimately going w/ a few that were advised against(argentia, regani, syns) and I've had close to zero aggression so far. My biggest mistake was underestimating their tank size requirements. These are big, active fish! My 150 is too small & I'm working on an upgrade in the near future. A vieja community needs a minimum of a 180 IMO, for the width.

Ha Ha, nice, man! Of the amphilophus species, lyonsi may be the mildest... at least in my experience. But definitely fully capable of defending themselves! LOL... good luck with him. Can't wait to see pics!

I know its a hit or miss situation but honestly if I came out of it all with a breeding pair of Bifas I would be more then happy.
Those are good pick, all very colorful fish. How big is your tank? You need a lot of space to house 22 fish each can hit 10 to 15 inches. The black belt and fenestratus shouldn't be the problem until they reach sexual maturity at about 8 inch. But you can manage their aggression if you have a big enough tank or you remove some females to prevent pairing.
