Odyssea canister filters

I've been seeing more and now people getting these, anyone have experience with them? They're super cheap, but that worries me about how long they'll last, the bigger models have built in uv which I think is a gimmick imo. Lets hear some input :beer:

Mine has been up and running for about a month now and so far I really like it. Very quiet and no priming required. Here's a link to read about this canister. I actually have not done any of the o-ring replacements and thus far have zero leaking issues. I did add large stainless steel fender washers to the lid screws just to be on the safe side. I have the 700cfs which is rated at 700gph and I have to say, it definitely seems like its pushing that much water. Plus, you can control the amount of water flow if maximum is too much. I found removing the hose connectors from the canister very tough, so I just remove the lid instead. But removing the lid will get your floor pretty wet from the the over flow of water from inside the canister, so beware and have a few towels ready. I really also like that the 700 is clear, so you can see how dirty the sponges are getting. I don't care for uv so I just snipped off the the uv unit and filled the void with sponge/floss material.

Awesome, sounding good to me. I was reading on another website about mods a guy was doing to increase the surface area and up the flow, I'll try to find the link

On my 220 before I had the cfs700 for almost 2 years. Never had one problem with it at all and never did one mod to it. I now have the cfs 14i on my 350 and love it just as much and have had absolutely no problems with it in the last year at all.

I'm one of those that believe if you take care of any filter they will perform for you like they should. There is always some bad ones from any company. I will continue to use cfs's on my tanks.

I'm pretty much happy with just the way the canister has already been designed. Like I said before, the only mod I've done is add fender washers. FYI, I've heard that petroleum jelly is detrimental for typical o-ring rubber....idk. My flow control works great and doesn't leak so I've had no reason to do this.

Wow, xfs700 on a 220. I was thinking the cfs 4i on my 110, that might be a lil overkill lol
