The difference between 100 and 200 micron filter sock

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like a 50 100 combo on my tanks using a pair. Single sock tanks use a 100 and I pop on a 50 every now and again.

I find the 200 just don't work that well for my setups.

For aquariums I find the 100 micron socks work great and do a good enough job at polishing the water. The key always is to have enough flow to get all the stuff to the socks in a timely manner. If you need some ideas on socks to get I can give you the brand and ones I order from Carr McMaster, just pm me

the smaller the number the finer the filtration it does.

About Filters and Particle Sizes

Use a filter to reduce contaminants in your process media. Filters trap particles of a specific size and larger. Contaminates are so small that the particle size is measured in microns—a unit of length equal to one millionth of a meter or 0.0000394 of an inch.
