I have 3 large super red. I hope they lays eggs.

The gold Severum male is either sterile or doesn't have a clue. The pair have deposited eggs about 5 times over the past two years and none have survived.
I bought the Red Severum from a guy (SDVNK) on Aquabid who advertised them as TRUE Super Red Severum, but I think I might have been taken. They arrived
at about 3/4 inch in size and I've had them close to 5 months. They don't look anywhere near Super Red to me. They might be red-spotted.
My wife calls them Super Orange. He's now peddling them on Ebay as True Super Reds. (Username is Fishworldd) Proceed with caution. No fry survived from the
Golds or Reds, but the Reds(Super Orange) are very young. We'll see what happens down the road.

Regarding the Rotkeil Sevs. They don't have the full red-shoulder yet. Under certain conditions, you can see it's there, but it's not prominent. I also bought these on Aquabid. They arrived at about
3/4 inch and the colors have been getting more intense since I've had them. My best guess is they are about 7 to 8 months old. Here's a YouTube video I posted that shows a standoff between siblings.

There is something about these Sevs that I just love. They are fairly young, but it looks like their colors will be very intense down the road.

I saved about 50 or 60 fry from the Rotkeil batch. I never shipped fish before, but am willing to try. And I'd also be willing to ship to fellow Monster Fish Keepers for my actual cost.
I'm not in the hobby to make money. The fry are presently between 1/2 and 3/4 inches. I'd like them to get closer to 1 inch before I ship.

I've been taking video of the fry since day 1 and will be posting their progress in the next few days.

Here are a couple of pics I took along the way.

Favorite thing I like about that second video is that the other fish in the tank are either " Oh S@*T I'm out" or staring at the one's having a stand off encouraging it with " FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!"

Don't ask me why, I like to think of fish as if they have their own language sometimes. Like when I'm fishing and I put a minnow/shiner on a hook. I'd swear sometimes the fish is talking to a bass and saying "eat me you stupid prick" or " Don't do it man!!!!! It's a trap!!!!"

Glad to see your severums and fry are doing well! I have no problem waiting until you feel they are big enough to ship. I'd like 6-10 depending on price plus shipping. PM me here or email me @ john97williams@gmail.com with details when you get a chance...

if you dont want them to eat the eggs, put a mesh box or cup over the eggs. they can still fan them to areate them, but cannot eat them

Note: this will ony work if they are laid on a horizontal surface (obviously)
