Sup everyone. So, I've been thinking hard and trying to come up with an idea on the best way to house what I want and get the enjoyment out of it.

I want to breed pbass and rays.

So, after consulting a close friend and taking into consideration that I want my achara catfish to have a great home, that I needed to go 8ft+.

My living room doesn't have space for a tank that size. Then, a point was made in saying that the shed out back which was insulated and being re-built would accommodate a tank that size. After measuring it, i came to the conclusion of the following dimensions -

315cm x 150cm x 90cm

1123g

Anyhow, this thread will span a long time. It will follow my progress and I will ask questions and answer questions.

The first thing is, would I be right in assuming That 15mm glass would work on this size tank?

Congrats on the big tank build. I cant wait to see how it goes. Good luck.

Thanks bro. I just hope people chime in. I obviously need to make sure the safety factor is correct. Lol

I am planning my next build on similar lines but with a length of 8-9'. I am going in for 19mm. A 15mm wont cut it with that height. 19mm with some heavy duty bracing is what I am opting for.

I would not use 15mm, but rather 19mm. A saftey factor of 1.5 is not really close to the recommended 2.5 :)

It will work better with 15mm if you only go 80cm high, quite a price difference between 15 and 19mm glass (here in sweden atleast).

This helps, 19mm it is lol. As for price, it will definitely be expensive but the way I figure, go big or go home lol. I wanna do this right the first time. No skimping out.

I'm getting glass panes done, with me putting the glass together.

Good luck with your build mate. Also, two things I wanna point out- 1st is make sure you have ample help while fixing that stuff cause 19mm can get very heavy with those dimensions which I realised when I was building my 360G.
2nd is make a drip system and say good bye to water changes. I so regret not making it. Saves a lot of time and hardwork.
