Good luck. I have made many mistakes along the way as well. The fact that you care is the important thing. Ignore the useless trolls, because they are useless trolls.

Your oscar should be fine. Mines smashed and scratched himself countless times trying to jump at my hands for food and hitting the plastic cover (his real name is Oscar but my gf calls him fat ass). He's also jumped out and basically fell about 4' (2' tall tank on a 2' stand) onto a cold ceramic floor and lived. I don't know if Oscars are trucks or maybe mine is different and when he was born Wolverine from the x-men was bleeding in the water my oscar was in and my oscar soaked up some blood and gained a healing factor. As cool as the second one sounds I think it's the first. Just let your lil guy be, give him some snacks n he'll pull through ;)

Thanks everybody. He is doing quite a bit better. He's not quite back to his spastic self but he's swimming around at least.

Lesson learned I suppose and I'm glad he's doing better but can I ask, how did the sand fall so fast that the O couldn't avoid being trapped under it? It's juts hard for me to imagine the O slowly being buried alive by settling sand thinkin' to himself "Meh, I'm sure this situation will work itself out and I'll chill here till it does". I've added sand to tanks with the fish still in it plenty of times(which probably isn't a good practice) and never had fish get buried alive.

This is what I was wondering as well. I just pictured it about the same and quoted a fish differently. " Oh look, the heater just broke so I'll lay here and use the sand as a blanket except *choke* I *choke* *squirm* CRAP GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!!! *gurgle* *cough* thanks for getting me out dude!"

Most Oscars i've seen when they go moody, tend to just lie on the bottom pouting, could have been this

Lol, oscars are so dozy, I can imagine that happening. Im sure he will make a full recovery.

I love the saying Stupid hurts! with that being said i have been there more times then I like to admit. popped a couple heaters and forgot to plug them back in to many times. i am guessing your oscar will make it he is probably just recouping from the days events.

Oscar's are very resilient fish, like a lot of cichlids are, and if you just give him some time to get over the pouting "what did you do that for?" mood, he will probably come around. Just be glad he can't talk
