because the asian carp

I think arowana are a lot less hardy than Asain carp as in temperature lol. It would be pretty cool to see them in our waterway. ha

It's an exotic fishes that need to be protected from Americans. Otherwise, it will be extinct. Just like ST.

So are you implying that it was Americans who have fished for and damned near eaten the ST into extinction?

You don't see the problems with ST we r facing ? So rare n so eexpensive compare to few years back.p

Yeah, and they are being sold in Asia for exorbitant amounts of money....not in the U.S.

i wonder if the ban is lifted one day and asian arowanas poured into america... would many of the fish suffer?

Right i'm sure there are alot of experienced fish keeper that will have the perfect water and tank for the fish. But i'm also thinking that there are amateures jumping in to grab one cause it's "the fish that's just been banned" and this might caught alot of collateral damage of fish at the beginning i guess. Not forgetting kids with rich parents jumping in to "let's grab one of these 5 inch beautiful fish".

But to be honest one acceptable reason for me to not want it to be available in the us is because of what the scientist or commercial breeder (if possible) would do to the strains. Remember glo fish and all those man made fish? It be really sad to see if americans started making some weird strains and colors out of it. sorry if this offended any americans but i think it's commonly accepted americans tend to take things from other culture/country, reinvent it and upsize it then call it their own :x

i believe if one day it's available in great numbers in the US people will sure be able to find some artificial way to breed the fish. and in turn produces even more hybrid colors ... not that it's bad. but i think a rainbow colored asian aro is pretty scary looking to me haha

The possibility that some people may mistreat their pets is not a good reason to ban that pet. Otherwise we will not have any pets that are legal.

Absolutely. I don't mean that as it should be the reason that it should be banned but just a casual thought on what could happen initially if it gets lifted.
