Armatus and Aimara

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This takes the cake for most monster cohab on the forum. There are cohabs with a lot more fish in general, but I don't think I've seen anything match this. Definitely awesome.

I wouldn't be able to leave well enough alone, get bored, and try to add some color and movement in the form of a Dorado.......

Then it would probably go to hell.

That's why it's so nice to be able to enjoy threads like this.

Thank you for posting these guys for us all to drool over......

Big hats off and congrats not just for the cohab, but knowing when to say when, obviously they both look very happy as they are both in flawless condition. Gives people like me something to think about...... And for that I also thank you! :)

I really don't think Aimara get the credit they deserve cause of the stereotype they carry of trying to kill everyone and everything..... They get my vote for most misunderstood toothy Characin. Once they're in your tank, they're your favorite fish. :grinno:

Awesome fish!how old are they and how big..they are HUGE!how long have they been together?
Thanks. They're 4 years old and I would guess around 2' range...maybe a little bigger. They've been in the 600g tank for a little over a year.

Very nice!

What is the armatuses diet?
I feed the armatus croaker, squid and shad about 1 time a week. Until he goes on his hunger strike that sometimes lasts a month or so.

Beautiful fish :) are they very interactive?
Thanks, they usually leave each other alone. Seems like the tank is big enough for the two of them for now.

Pretty sure it's just Malas that are illegal there....... ;)

This has to be one of the sickest combos on the board. :)
Thanks I really appreciate the compliment.

I'll say it... Feeding video!
I'll try to get a feeding video up this weekend.

FULL TANK SHOT?? PS: VERY NICE!
Thanks, I'll get the whole tank in the feeding video I'll post up this weekend.

Thanks again, I have had to stop myself a many times from buying some fish to add to this tank. It's crazy because they seem to respect each other and leave each other alone. I've had several plecos in the tank that they have killed along with tin foil barbs though. So I ended up just keeping them together since it works out.

Wow! How big are they and how long have they been living together? I'd love to own an aimara 1 day. Too bad they're illegal here:(
