Definitely something to think about. The other Uaru and tank mates (Biotodoma wavrini and Santa Isabel angels) don't seem to be threatening them. We'll see.

I've gone through a bunch of altums in the last few months and I have to say that although pandas are tough to get through acclimation, altums may be harder to keep alive for the long term. The general notion is that their local water is so acidic that there's very few pathogens, so their immune system is not up to all the stress from being caught, transported and then kept in tanks. Once they settle down, it's not that hard as long as you don't mess with them that much.
The tank is 30" tall so it can fit through my door. The stand is 96x40x40 though. I thought about installing a double door but it's too much work/damage, so I'm having a 30" tall stand built so everything can be in the house.
Congrats ! Such a cool looking fish! My fish place is supposed to be getting these in! I wanted some until I read they are pretty picky on water quality

Less so than what people say. A couple of times they went 2-3 weeks with no wc when I was traveling, with no real ill effect. I think it's the drastic change in shipping and acclimation that may upset them. Once they settle in, it's really not that hard.
