Great looking Kelberi! As far as collection point goes? I couldn't tell you, but you could probably try to get the LFS/vendor you bought it from to tip you off and even then it could be wrong. Private importers generally know their collection points more accurately and are more "correct" if you will.

Slight rant, more recently it looks like people have been giving an IDs on the collection point of Kelberi(and other Cichla) by just looking at pictures, more often than not this is very inaccurate and can cause problems, specially with re-sale of the fish. Differentiating collection points of the same species is not usually easy, specially with smaller fish, adults are a different story. This is why in re-sale sticking to the confirmed species, if the collection point is uncertain is much preferred. Just my thoughts.

Thank man, at what size do Kelberi finish with body spotting and pattern?

Could this just be a regular Kelberi? My LFS dnt have any back ground infos on my Kels
All I know is they came from Florida. 2 my other Kels have a better shade of gold body color. They might be Bahia(will post pics of them later)

With Kelberi, there are early and late bloomers, you can see very young Kelberi 4-5in with pevlic and anal fish spotting. Or some that are much larger that just begin to develop those Kelberi specific markings. So it depends. You can expect the prominent Kelberi traits to be there by the time the specimen is 8in.

And a Kelberi is a Kelberi, collection points and morphs just present different aesthetic variations.

Nice pbass! I would only say collection point is important if you are trying to breed them, or selling them to a breeder. Even if your lfs or someone else says it's from here or there, how can you be 100% positive that info is correct. I personally don't care what type of bass I have, I just enjoy them as they are and try to take care of them the best I can.

The fish look captive bred, and they definitely are kelberi because of the spangling on the anal fin. If the store says they're from Florida, there is a chance they may be from Imperial Tropicals -- they are selling F1 kels. Keep the updates coming. :)
