6-8 weeks to cycle a tank. it won't be anywhere near ready by then.

ive done it where i have gotten my fish the next day even with no problems. ive never had a fish die on me for water quality issues. i know longer is recommended and a better way to go but ive never had problems and also used the aquarium jumpstart bacteria liquid stuff. i will take your advice into consideration though thanks Gill Blue

Cool tank and I love your enthusiasm, but just remember that Green Sunfish are very aggressive and messy fish, when theyre small you wont have many problems, but when they get big (Green Sunfish can get 12 inches long and up to a couple of pounds in weight), males will want to set up territories and my 38g was fine for about a year and a half then they started killing all the other fish and then attacked each other; if you can I would get a small species of Lepomis like Orange Spotted, or Bantam, if not I would recommend going with a medium sizes like Northern Longear, Dollar, or maybe Spotted.....if its a species only tank Fliers would be a good pick also.

Cool but you may eventually need a bigger tank for 2 greens. Especially if you are catching them from the wild, it would be pretty I humane to take them from a habitat with no ammonia, nitrite, or even nitrates and add them to a cycling tank, IMO.
