Are your Fish Afraid of the Dark???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use a small night light for my fish because some times they get spooked when I turn the lights of or go into the room to get something after the lights are out. arows are very likely to get spooked especially the silver ones,I had a huge one jump out of my tank twice the second time he did not make it. You can go to the 99 cent store and pick up one

That's pretty funny. A night light for your fish. I might try that. Lol

Sorry about your arow.

Most bony fish have a fixed pupil which does not contract or dilate to adjust the amount of light that enters the eye. Fish instead adjust to changes in light intensity by moving the rods and cones within the retina - a process that happens relatively slowly when compared to the action of the pupil. When the light intensity in the aquarium changes abruptly the fish are temporarily blinded, hence the stressed behavior.

That is very informative. Thank you for contributing.
