I bought 6 4-5" orino's, transported em home 1 hour in a cooler. two turned upside down in the cooler but seemed to be breathing fine, after two hours in my tank they seem to have died and a third just turned and seems to be goin out. wtf is going on? I have never had any problem like this before. are these fish just that finicky? ive had cichla in the past and never had this problem????

I think the three that survived so far should be okay. Add a little bit of salt (1/2 - 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons) as a tonic to water.

As for the other three, what were the water parameters like in the cooler? Do you know if the fish had food withheld a day before transport? Oxygenation of water is super important -- battery operated powerheads or airstones during transport are a must.

the remaining three made it through the night so their fine. I might check the cooler water later for ammonia as i havent emptied it yet. I do know the fish weren't fed the day I got em, but that's it. next time I will use a bubbler but like I said ive never had this problem, not even with saltwater sharks.

are bass really this fragile? is it possible for fish to be babied so much that theyre just not hardy?

How large of a container were they transported in? How much water?

Dont waste your time checking the cooler water after a day the Water perams could be way off from the water they were in at first
