Friedrichsthalii or Motaguense or Loisellei?

La Ceiba is a Location.

We should throw Location in the trasH. Lets really talk fish breed. Location is lame if fish look the same.

I do Agree Yellow heads are Not equal To Yellow Jackets. But scientifically(i think because Im no scientist) they are under the "freddy" breed. Like Gorillus and Blue freckled monsters ar under the Umbee breed

Location is what differentiates the Umberfiurm variants you mentioned. They are all umbees correct? Do they look anything alike???? Heck no. Acme goes with these fish. They are both parachromis correct? Do they look anything alike??? Heck no. The owner should know what they have so they can keep the species around in the hobby longer.

Just look at Panama green umbees find those in the hobby. .. They don't exist anymore. But they were around at some point. The same will happen with these eventually and the body of water that these fish were collected is no longer even there. If you love parachromis this is a special fish to add to your collection. Not just a freddy.....

Haha I was down there today see the empty tank with salvini listed on it. I got it from a small shop in south London was labeled as a loiselli but I new it wasn't. I tried to get it id on here before with mixed reviews. Keep me posted it will be nice to see it grow. Had it from about 1" grew really slow is probably 10 months to a year old.

I hear you and agree about fish from different locals looking different, but you said this fish was NOT a Freddy. The fish in question is a Parachromis Friedrichsthalii. La Ceiba is a location. I wanted the owner to know what they have is 100% a Freddy. Also, for the record and IMO, I don't see La Ceiba here either... the La Ceiba have more blues in it. This looks to me like a regular Parachromis Fiedrichsthalii or "Yellow Jacket" or "Freddy". I still called my old La Ceiba Freddy a Freddy, because when it comes down to it that is what it is.

I thought it was originally a Motaguense, but I'm not sure.View attachment 990081View attachment 990082

People's thoughts please.

yeah..

I have owned LaCieba Yellow head, Fredrichstalli, Losellie, Motaguense, Managuense, And Dovii.

There is a huge difference between the fish. The fish in question is without doubt LaCieba, I understand that there were 5 original fish brought back from LaCieba. A small lagoon in Honduras. 2 pairs were spawned and distributed in the hobby. One distinct line that I have has very pronounced yellow and black bands. Like yellow and black festea. These were purchased from COA. The other line that I have from AquaMojo has more yellow base color and alot more blue. I will snap pictures tonight to show the distinct lines that exist. That are definitely not Fredrichstalli.

I want a Yellow Jacket!

Been wanting a nice one for a long time.. But I can't accept Yellow heads because I already know of the Yellow jackets..

Nice pics!! I do agree that a regular Freddy n a La Ceiba look different, but I've always considered them Fredrichsthalii. I read in an older post how there were, I think, only three ot maybe four people with a pair in the states originally... mo, rapps and another 1 or 2, I think. Anyway, I think they were calling them la ceiba loiselle then. I believe someone was sending out dna testing... no idea on the results. Drew, what would you call the scientific name is of a la ceiba??
