Aquired new festae. Stunted for life?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like a healthy female. If that fh is a male and fertile then there is a good chance they might try. I can't grantee anything though since I don't know much about fhs. Are her eyes big or look to big for her body size?

I thought FHs were a hybrid of several CAs? They might pair up (still unlikely), but I couldn't see any viable offspring being produced (unless I am wrong about FHs of course).

I couldn't tell you to be honest. Like I said I don't know much of fhs. All I know is they are pure hybrids. But in my eyes it's a 50/50 chance. Op I would watch the fh for aggression since she is a lot smaller then the fh. If it is a male that is.

I'm in the same boat on the lack of FH knowledge. LOL

I also agree to watch out for aggression issues. FHs are known to be mean regardless of gender, but males are still worse, especially if he sees her as a possible mate, but she doesn't see him in the same way.

Since it's a female festae, they tend to grow more slowly as a general rule. I doubt that its seriously or permanently stunted. Size of the tank has less to do with growth than proper care like frequent water changes, or lack of stress.
On a side note....
Pure hybrid is a bit of an oxymoron, purity only comes in a non hybrid blood line, such as festae only breeding with festae.
Hybrids are mutts, and are the antithesis of pure.

Awesome looking fish! You got a good discount! FREE! And even if it is a smaller tank why will a 3" fish not grow in a 2 foot by 1 foot tank? It is only 3" people keep 3" community fish in that size all the time...

Is there something i am missing?
