You DID ask how to stop your fish from smelling bad, so the tanks do smell, too.

There should be no smell, if kept clean. Some reptiles will poop/pee, when threatened, which smells, which is its natural defense, and not related to proper husbandry.

You would serve yourself much better if you stopped debating this, and started making sure your animals stop smelling, and they'll be healthier, too. Good luck.

If you think an iguana smells, it's only because that animal has not been properly cared for, either.

Fish aren't and mine do not. But reptiles SMELL! Have you ever been near a musk turtle or an iguana? All animals smell some more then others. All smells have eliminated at this point. I am using a cleaning solution i found on a reptile forum and am changing substrate daily.

When not kept up reptiles can get pretty pungent. I've kept nearly everything a typical LFS will have in herps and cleaning is everything. From geckos to 15' Burmese keeping the crap cleaned is paramount. Also kept rat colonies and had ferrets for 12 years or so. Same deal; clean cages/enclosures and clean animals and nothing will smell. Short of standing water for months at a time a fish tank won't smell either, think about how long a bucket of rainwater has to sit outside before it stinks and then consider your filtration and cycling.

Responsibly staying on top of what you already have is where I as a parent and fairly experienced keeper would sit as well. Don't forget also that a lot of the stuff you are keeping is going to still be around in your 20's after you aren't living with your parents and have full time work and adult responsibilities of your own. Long term commitments.

Do you have all these animals in your bedroom?

most members on this forum are not intending to be nice or mean to you, they are just giving their experience, take it and learn. It's great to be stubborn at times, but open yourself up and soak up all this information. you seem to be one of the most stubborn member on this forums and always thinking people are attacking you. they are not. IME, it's best not to have a lots of pets at such a young age becuz life takes a hold of you and can change your life forever. I used to have a decent amount of pets, then my dad passed away my senior year in HS. I could no longer support them and my hobby as my dad was the breadwinner. We had to sell the house and move out, i left my tank there becuz i couldnt take them with me. I came back to feed them whenever i culd when i drove to school but i ended up neglecting them and they died. Also college came by and I could not give much time to my pets. So much can happen in less than a year. Be grateful for what your parents let u get away with. My parents wouldn't even let me have a lizard or a bird. I envy you in some ways.

No,
The 300 gallon is in the basement and my dad has told me that I am not ALLOWED to take it with me! He said if i wanted to take the fish i could because i paid for them but he would like to keep all the fish if I let him (I probably will...) and i have the 40 in the basement. Then i have the other 3 tanks in my room.

Oh okay.I would imagine the basement being spacious enough for a tegu enclosure but keeping it warm enough down there might be costly.

Yeah the basement is HUGE. Just not tall ceilings.... I was considering that Idea as well... But like you stated i would have to have a ton of heat lamps and such to keep him warm... And I will not get the tegu until I have a 7x4x3 or larger enclosure BUILT and fully functional. So if space ends up being an issue i will settle for another smaller reptile or just not get anything period.

Mods, please do NOT close this thread. I wish to answer these peoples questions and explain myself 100% honestly on here. I want to clear my name because people always get the wrong idea about me because I am different.

I am sitting in a room containing seven snakes, four lizards, four frogs, and seven fish... and there is no detectable odor from any of them.

I just realized the OP is either banned or ragequit, so I plan to drop this thread... and suggest you guys do as well.
