Yeah he's great but still a little skittish, Which is understandable after being moved a couple times after shipping. He actaully took his first piece (or half a piece) of FD Krill today. He backflipped it and he had it in his mouth for a second but he struck it so hard it split in half. One half went into the current and he gobbled it up as it floated by. One thing though is his aggression. He hates any silver fish. My SD can slip thorough the divider somehow and ended up on the armatus's side and by the time he got back he had two needle holes in his dorsal fin... yikes lol I wanted him and a teacher fish to get on pellets, but I guess not lol

Ya. Them along with ATF's aren't big fans of other silvery fish

Glad you got a good price for it...I've seen one eyed armatus at a certain local store(that will remain unidentified since doing so might be seen as bashing by some here)and no discount was offered.
If a lfs refused to offer a discount on damage livestock it's their prerogative, how would that be considered "bashing" if they are identified?
Well by 7 pm today he slashed and shanked the indo tarpon so i put up a egg crate divider btwn him and the others. Not to happy kinda irked but oh well it happens he's an armatus I should've known better
Tarpons are tough, my armatus punctured a gaping hole below pectoral fin and it was still eating and swimming. I raised temp, added mela/prima and it fully recovered.
They don't discriminate, my black koi received numerous injuries before until armatus realized how tough koi's are

I kept just my albino Senegal with him to eat leftover krill and pellets but his whole side of his right face is slashed across and bloody. The fangs mustve missed his eye by a couple millimeters!!! Removed him immediately. What tankmates can I keep with him? Im thinking maybe a "mini" motoro or idk even a big bichir got the fangs. Im not sure how well koi will do after this...

Interesting. What's the size difference? Armatus will usually leave bichirs alone. Neither of mine have messed with any of my bichirs. I experienced it with my aba aba though. First day, he got sliced up pretty good but after that they never touched him. Now he's been with them about a month and they still having messed with him

The bichir is a inch or two longer than the army. This is a few days after being together... Maybe I just have a really aggressive armatus idk. In ichibans tank i saw he was being kept with rays. What tankmates would you suggest? Maybe Irwini armored cat or ray? I need a bottom feeder to eat food on the bottom cuz he gets skittish errytime I put my hand/net in to get uneaten food. Maybe I could go to pet smart and get 3 tinfoils and see if a larger group works well... After all if anything goes wrong in the 2 weeks i can always return them.

I think the armored cat and ray would work. I can't possibly see an armatus doing damage to that. Or possibly larger bichirs. Was the sen you have an albino? It might've mistaken it for a goldfish

It was indeed an albino, albino Senegals are awesome they look like platinums but for a lot less $. I saw the army charge him a few times so he probably didnt mistake him for anything... Plus he's big so probably not. I was also maybe thinking a pleco but i don't know much about them. If the army goes after the ray that could be disastrous since rays are soft bodied and sensitive. Im just trying to get something to work, like nothing too nippy but nothing too laid back...
