dubbed sound just kills me. one of my fav fight seans, was a great movie.

Great scene from a great movie! Wow pops, (btw, in the kungfu world, "pops" always refers to the late great Lau Kar Leung, kudos on that) if the dubbing in something as recent as Ip Man annoysyou , do you even try watching the old ones? Youre not alone, lots don't care for the.dubbing.

Just finished watching 47 Ronin, pretty good fantasy samurai film.

hell nah, 47 Ronin sucked like I thought it would.

Keanu Reaves hasn't done anything good since Matrix and Devil's Advocate and before that Speed and before that Bill and Ted

I knew it was a mistake to cast him. but even then the plot was weak sauce. i'd be offended if I was a Japanese ronin

Hmm,the plot was weak sauce..I had no problem with the plot as it's not as convoluted as quite a few martial arts flicks are,new and old.I liked it and didn't expect you to even watch it because Reaves is in it.Its like you'll never forgive him or Afflec for whatever they've done to you lol..It was good to see Cary Tagawa's sinister sneer in something new also.

IP Man sagas where never dubbed. sub titled which I like. I prefer them in there original sound track. did not know that about pops, just been my handle for past 30 years. the older ones while good choreography are campy.

I gotcha, I like the old stuff, that takes place centuries ago myself.

ahh period pieces, I do to, that's why I love red cliff, 13 samurai and the such.

the plot didn't do anything for me. there was nothing spectacular about it. after I saw it I posted my review in this thread. you must've missed it. I saw it like a month ago so I don't remember everything but the pace of the movie was really bad from what I remember.

I don't have a problem with reaves, but Affleck, yes. daredevil was actually on tv a couple of weeks ago and I caught like the last 1/3 of the movie and actually watched it just because. I was reminded why I hate it but I watched it anyways.

edit: I rated the movie but I actually didn't go into detail about why I didn't like it.

one thing that sticks out off the top of my head is reaves' character having little training but ends up being really good at some point for no reason. also that dragon lady was so powerful, it made no sense that she would serve anyone. they should've somehow showed why or how she had to be so loyal and serve the bad guy. you would think she would be able to take over the country by force based on her powers alone. I really had trouble with that. the whole time i'm just thinking, why is she not the boss? what is she gaining by serving this dude in the background doing his dirty work??

I did miss your earlier post about the film.I'll go back and check it out when I get around to it...Again,most of these movies in this genre have weak or sketchy plots,if I held that against them I would have stopped watching them years ago. This film though, revolved around that one man lusting after that woman and destroyed a whole battalion of proud fighters because if it.I agree that the dragon woman was too powerful to just be someone's henchwoman for it not to at least be touched on as to why she was so loyal to the film's antagonist.I expected more from that big Goro looking guy that Reaves killed. It was a kind of a waste to even have him in the movie if that's all he was used for.
