Nice community tank, how big?

It's a 125 gallon. I keep them cramped with almost no decorations in it during the winter to keep them from fighting, and move them into kiddie pools outside during the summer to breed. Haven't lost a cichlid yet this way. I've had that blood parrot in the pictures for 12 years now.

Well then keep on keeping on. Nice parrot by the way, he's got a bright coloration.

Actually it's a she. She has laid eggs before, but never let anyone fertilize them. She actually just dug a pit though, and seems to be guarding it with the male carpintis, so I guess I get to wait and see what happens!

Ooops, pardon my mistake. I'm sure if you were to play some Barry White, "magic" would definitely ensue. lol

That's awsome. I love BP. I had a huge female for a while, still one of my most favored fish I've ever had. Maybe you'll get some red texas if that carpintis and BP spawn.

They probably dont fight as they are too confused about the nice blue gravel you have there. haha

Not my choice. Unfortunately that gravel is as old as the tank (14 years old). My parents got it for me as a wee 7 year old, who loved shiny colors. Since my parents get the final say in what stays and what goes as the tanks are in their basement, the blue gravel stays. At least the fish show up well on it. If it was my choice I'd go for fine sand.
