Where to go for large acrylic aquariums

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't, though I've read good things. When I priced out a potential tank their prices came in higher, but a lot of that was because they wanted to use thicker material (the fishtankdirect stuff is on the thin end of recommendations).

Midwest quoted me $3600 for the 8'x4'x2' tank before shipping, or overflows.

Their site is super professional, and they do some awesome overflows.

I think I might buy a fishtanksdirect tank for my next tank (lots of moving in the near future) but plan on going midwest long term or when I get that 12' tank.

Pretty awesome list. Have you ordered from these people? Is shipping included in that price?

Thanks!

no those tanks are out of my price range atm. And I don't own house I'm in only renting. On top of that there isn't enough room to put much more than a 300 in.

I'm guessing you found out already, but fish tanks direct does have that 670 gal 120 x 48 x 30 tank you said you wanted $5500 for the tank with overflow box and bulkheads.

One thing I didn't like about Midwest was I wanted a black bottom and back. He said they paint it. Lost my business right there.

Pay more money for extra expensive acrylic or help the customer cut a little cost and paint it. Sounds reasonable to me. I'm sure if you would have said you wanted it actually in black acrylic they would be more than willing to bill you for it. But taking an already expensive tank and trying to keep cost low and quality up you have to try to help the customer somehow

I would also obviously prefer to have actual acrylic on the back and bottom in black as well.

That being said if paint was free and acrylic was more, I can see how some might consider it. However if Im going to go the extra mile to get a tank from Midwest, Im not going to cheap out at the last second.

FTD does it for free, which is nice.
