Confused what cichlid this is help

i would have to say that your guess sound the most reasonable but i don't think its a jaguar hybrid because he is red

I have a breeding pair of Jaguar x convicts, and they look different than yours. They are in my avatar, but here is a pic. I think a Nicaraguensis x Convict hybrid like someone had mentioned before might be a good starting point. But still, without knowing who the parents are or a DNA test, we can't be 100% certain. (LOL, I feel like I'm on The Maury Povich Show)

It is mosty an rtm!but are they that green when they are young ?

Pretty sure that is not a red tiger motaguense...It is a dwarf cichlid, called a Cryptoheros nanoluteus. The first picture is xxproimage's fish, and the two that follow are reference photos of the Cryptoheros nanoluteus.

Yea looks like a nano to me too but not 100% untill I see his whole face.

Here is Crytoheros nanoluteus, they top out around 4"

The fish in your pic looks a bit more like xCichlasoma atromaculatum.
They get larger, have a more blunt profile, and have the 9 bars and a tail spot, just as your pics do, with an orange anterior color below the lateral line.

Where is the stomach red? It could be the red gravel reflecting back on to the belly. Even so, I don't really see it. If OP could post a pic of the entire fish, including full head profile, that would help.

trying but he is very camera shy LOL, pick of him with the umbee unfortunately the umbee died
he did get bigger from the umbee photo (any tips of getting a better photo lol)
