Chatuchak Bangkok - More fish than you can imagine

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh would you like me to add chow puppies to my list? I'm sure I'll find the pugs I think I know what they look like.
no lol I ment that those puppies you took a video of are chow puppies. I would love to see some saltwater fish

Ugh I keep forgetting to upload the saltwater fish and the filtration methods! Ok I put those two at the top of my list, this weekend I may not go because due to a busy schedule but then I will definitely go the following week, hopefully. I looked for the blacktips but in the tank they usually are in I found a big ramora? Or something similar, the saltwater fish are cheap also as it is only $1 for a small 1" percale/ocellaris (can't tell the difference at all but they are tank raised) clownfish.

I used to have a saltwater, until ich demolished it. I listened to an inexperienced fish keeper instead of thinking about my own experiences but overall it's my fault and I'm much happier with my fresh anyways.

Another fish I bought are octopi. It is only $5 for a common octopus or $5 for an octopus Aculeatus (something similar). They were fun to but the vulgaris died over and over again during acclimation. I researched it millions of time, followed every single direction, checked my water quality over and over again, but they still died. I think it has something to do with the tanks as they kept around 20 octopi in a 60 gallon and they would fight. But for some reason but the Aculeatus survived initial acclimation until he was killed by a picasso triggerfish which was only $7? It's been a while so maybe that's actually wrong.

Sorry for the long paragraph but I hope that gives you an idea on thai fish keeping as it is extremely different from the U.S., U.K. etc.

Wow those prices are awesome. Sorry about your octopus. We were looking into getting one but them found out they only live for about two years. It would so sad to have one get all attached and it die

Thank you I will get some prices of other fish.

It's like Santa's North Pole, but with fish instead of toys. Simply amazing! Seriously though, what were those little dogs??? Looked like Pomeranians, but they were so fluffy! Must be hybrids, ha ha...

Went back to Chatuchak, I finally took some pictures of fish that have been on my list for some people. I can not remember who wanted to know what so either drop a comment or send me a private message for any information. I did find those black tips! I found electric eels and the sturgeon but they are within that special shop that freaks out whenever I pull my phone out! :nilly:

I picked out a few photos to annotate, I hope the annotations turn out ok:

The photo above shows the basic filtration system used on the vast majority of freshwater tanks and fish only salt water tanks. It consists of simple white permeable membrane cloth thing, some sort of textured spiky plastic balls, and a powerhead to pump the water back into the tank. Believe it or not, this filtration method is used on the black tip shark tank, water changes must be Thai peoples' best friend.

This snakehead was huge, maybe around 3 feet long? It attempted to bite my hand over and over again when I tried to show you a comparison for size.

This is a common thing to see, 10 arapaima in one tank is pretty cool though!

Mudskippers are somewhat uncommon, they only cost $1.

These are a specie of saltwater fish converted to saltwater, they cost $150 and I have seen them in a couple stores.
