Looking for a single 'Beast' for a 29 gallon.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. Any advice on how many to stock? I have ready they are aggressive toward each other but some suggest this is only in larger spaces? Got to love the interwebs and the conflicting info!

Probably could do a puffer. Maybe something like a Congo or Mekong. They are pretty sedentary and are not super active but would take care of your 'extra' live bearers. Ive never raised them so I might be wrong, maybe a puffer person could post.

Im going to be doing a Leopard Ctenopoma. Also not very active so to speak but easier for me to get a hold of.

I think a ctetnopoma is your best bet. I have kept 3 in a 55 before so you could keep 2 in your 29.

A leopard might not be a good choice; they are very slow growers but they do eventually get 6-8 inches. I've had one for about a year and a half and he's 5.25 inches already. There are some smaller ctenos but they are more rare and wouldn't eat feeders that size.

I would keep them solitary. I have heard that they are quite territorial.

I have one in a 20 long currently, and they are very interesting fish.
