My new and first flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats not a short body. Just a nice square body, which a quality silk should have. Nice looking fish. Careful with that female RT in the tank though. They can get nasty.

Thanks. I hope he isn't a sb though. We will see. I been wanting to breed him with a female silk. But I heard that the males may not be fertile do you know anything about that?

I have heard a lot back and forth. I have seen a lot of males on here and heard of a lot that were fertile. Usually the infertility comes from too much inbreeding (so I've heard). If you got a good thai silk from a good strain, he is most likely fertile. He looks fertile to me. He is rich in color and he has a nice kok, which I believe is a good sign of a healthy strain. Keep us updated! Let me know if you find a female thai silk!

What size tank is it? I would be careful introducing another FH or any fish to him. They can get pretty nasty and kill the other fish. If you do get another one, just make sure you have a back up tank you can put him in just encase they don't co-habitate.

Well he may get along with a female and breed. I would just be careful with any other males of other types of fish. Especially in a 55. Most flowerhorns have the potential to get 16inches. So they can easily outgrow a 55. You can get by with a 55 for a while, but he will need an upgrade eventually.
