Anyone into kung fu movies??

I don't mind wires at all

same way I don't mind a Canadian that has healing powers and metal claws coming out of his knuckles

they're all sci fi/fantasy to me

but this is new to me, i'm really glad to hear DY is on board. is this a sequel or prequel? is his character a brand new one or is he playing Li Mu Bai?

I don't mind the use of wires, heck most of my favorite Kung fu flicks use them heavily lol but there is such a thing as going too far with their use and in Crouching Tiger they went too far.

I get what you're saying but for me, if I can watch a super hero fly or crawl on walls, I can watch Chinese dudes walking on branches

We can delve pretty deeply into the comic and fantasy world and go on and on with comparisons but the final straw was that guy standing on the very end of a tree branch. He was no super hero, had no super powers,he didn't even wear a cape lol.He was just a highly trained fighter and that just destroyed my suspension of disbelief.

Yeah, I feel like the over the top stuff somehow discredits the actors ability.

I guess it comes down to how it's done.In The Five Deadly Venoms I think, there is a scene with two fighters standing horizontally high up on a wall while trading blows....and they jumped up there. That scene,as over the top as it is didn't bother me at all lol.
