What happens when you guys tell strangers about your tank?

14... getting so many tanks, lol falling into a lot of luck, getting a 125 gallon for my room, a custom 300 gallon, a small SW not sure on how big, and already have a 75, 55, 15, and 10 at my dads :P
 
Anyone ever get someone into the hobby. I have a 6 year old cousin I gave him a 10 gallon with a aqua clear hob. I was not expecting him to get into it or anything but the kid does 15% Water changes every Saturday and 30% once a month. He also scrapes all algea off the glass and feeds his fish a well balanced diet. He is only 6!!!! I never saw that one comming haha he has two german blue rams so have any one else gotten someone into it that thought it was dumb/stupid or an obsession before?

I think I got my first aquarium before most of your grandparents were born. I kept fish when what are now called ancient fish were considered modern.

Just about everyone at school stares at me blankly when I say anything remotely fish like. Im 12 so kids at my school are impressed that I have a 55 and half of them dont believe I got a 120 when I was young enough to easily fit inside it. I just dont talk about fish at school and I seem sort of normal to my class. Luckely there are 3 other kids in my area who are just as obsessed as I am about fish.
 
When I talk even to my dad about my tanks he just says "mm hmm". My mom luckily knows a good bit about them but she would never have any tanks unless I motivated her, she just supports my hobby :). ANY kid at school I talk to about tanks has no idea at all what I'm talking about, biggest tank somebody else in my history class has is like a gallon. I have pretty much no friends my age (that I see in person) that are obsessed with tanks sadly.
 
Depends on the person, but usually everyone thinks it's cool when I tell em that the main fish I keep, bichirs, are essentially fossil fish. I just say to people who've known me since childhood " remember that movie with the mini pet Dino's? This is the closest your going to get to keeping a Dino as a pet" and they usually are not surprised at that point. In elementary I was voted "most likely to become an archaeologist"

From ransoms though, its different from guys to girls. Guys see the big mouths and teeth and thinks they're cool, then girls see the really colorful cichlids like my green Texas and think they're gorgeous

People react very well win I tell them about my beloved tanks (16 tanks) / polypterus . It makes them want one . So of my employes use it as a selling point . But only bichir I sell are all CB and only ornates . Sens (marble) . Delz and long fin sens .
