Yes they were, If they weren't invasive I wouldn't of speared/shot any lol really tasty fish though honestly better then anything else I caught and ate the whole trip. I had some pics on my old phone of ones in the water, biggest one was 20 inch and thick as my arm. If your ever in the Potomac area they are pretty easy to find

Yeah they were monster, we caught one that was different you guys might be able to shed light on this, it was BRIGHT green, as the rest were that mottled brownish green. Like neon green. We sent pics to the FWC to see if it was a new invasive specie but we got the respond they don't know lol. Color morph maybe?

What I figured, I actually think the family friend who owned the house I stayed at had it mounted, or at least that he wanted to, I'll see if he did and can send me a pic

I hope you find some pic's, I haven't seen a BRIGHT green channa morph, But i have seen pictures of spawning male bowfin that were bright green , very unnatural neon green looking.
Oh it for sure wasn't bowfin I've caught breeding males locally I know what you mean though they look crazy! Very unlike your normal bowfin. This Argus was green enough it blended into the grass, I really hope he texts me back saying he mounted it lol I know we skinned it and kept the skin intact at least

Same! Too bad my old phone is in the bottom of lake Erie and not some drawer I could extract a crappy pic from. Seeing your pics of the wild Lucius totally triggered my memory of it haha it was 2 years ago on the Potomac by the mouth to the Chesapeake bay, went up there by boat from the choptank it was awesome.
