Who has C. intermedia - Anyone breeding?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well,of course those who keep cichla in mixed bag, variety type displays wouldnt expect to have much breeding going on but those who know what a premium species of cichla that intermedia are and wanted to attempt to breed them for profit would know better than to house them with other fish.Hard to believe it hasn't been attempted by someone out of all of those fish brought in.
Hey Krich not to hard to believe at all the guys that paved the way for us with Pbass were to busy trying to get even a couple then they just wanted to keep them alive let alone breed!!!!! in the end i am pretty sure they are all dead !!!!!Intermedia are a very sensitive species from hith right down to just keeping them alive look at Joey's 1 that went to H20 now just (Dead)

Sad,since they are so sensitive lots of them probably don't even survive the trip from country of origin.

Hmm interesting.

Think if they became available again people would pay?

I don't really think there will be enough people willing to pay the price they will cost and on top of that I'm sure the mark up of them will be sick and sellers will take advantage of the whole situation of them being hard to get. If your hardcore enough for cichla you'll pay if it's a fish you've always wanted.

What don't you want to risk?

Oh okay, now I see what you meant. Thanks for answering.Yeah,I'm not sure I'd be willing to take the risk either, knowing their reputation and my track record with baby cichla lol.

That's the challenge that some seek. To be the one to figure it out, to breed them, to keep them alive HITH free.
IMO it's kinda boring to just raise them. Maybe that's why many keepers drop out.
