Does my knife fish have ich???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I added 1 Tbs pet 5 gallons and bumped temp to 85. I m really hoping my Festae doesn't get it. I would be super upset. Is salt and upping temp better than Ich meds or should I do meds too?

I would continue to slowly raise the temperature to about 90. 85 isn't really high enough to solve the problem.

My heater only goes to 88. Should I get the kf out of there? I'm really freaking out about my Festae!

My water is only getting to 86.5...should I add another heater from another tank?

I would move it to a quarantine tank, no substrate, add another heater and get the temp to 91 and keep it there for as long as it takes. In the meantime treat your other tank with meds. There are lots of resources out there on ich lifecycle and you should familiarize yourself with it, because it is key to understand when treating. Best of luck...that is a nasty case.

+1 though I would only raise the temp to 90. but you will have to treat the knife in another tank cuz he is sensitive to meds. I personally would only do the heat treatment with the knife. no meds/salt
