DRIP SYSTEMS Success & Failures

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've waited for a few months on this thread to get someone to post pics of a system that requires water to be pumped out up hill and I'm not finding any setups like that. I'm in a partial basement and I want to setup a drip system, I would have to pump water up hill for about 4 feet before I get it outside of the house. Anyone do anything like this before?

I've got some thoughts on how you would do this, but nothing that I can figure would be fail proof. I'm working on the design, just need to get around to finishing it and then building up the nerve to test it.

Litermeter, pumps in exactly what it takes out. - Draws up from 25ft, Pumps up to 60ft!

Can't you just send it down the drain?

But I do wish I could put that many thousands of gallons of water to use rather than dump it down the drain, but the drain sure is easy. Never have to worry about a pump, But I do have a friend with a flooded yard because of allot of drip :-) Wednesday Chime in.

Or put it in the sump. Every basement has a sump pump....

Not here.

Nope the drain is across the house in the far corner, I wanted to do that but I would have to tear up the hardwood and say a trench in the cement floor, I'll end up running my supply along the ceiling.

I drain into 120' of pvc pipe run around my fishroom behind the tanks and then into a sump crock basin i put in. The sump pump shoots 8' up and out into my front yard. I flood the basement floor a bit when the power goes out but battery backup or generator will keep u dry in an outage. Also need to consider where ur shooting the dirty water out at. I pump 20 gal an hour 24/7 onto my front lawn through a series of small ponds and french drains to disapate the dirty water and the yard is still a muddy mess lol...working on that now after a year of flooding the place.

I suggest getting to ur drain somehow or this is what u have to look forward too with a sump pump shooting outside :) ...just buried another 20' of pipe today actually after these photos were taken to dry my yard out and get the water further away from the house. My next step is keep digging haha...still 50-60' away from the storm drain but the process is working and i should be able to cut my lawn soon lmao... If u can get ur discharge water to a garden its basically hydroponics. My 2ft. Tall grass in the pics should attest to that.
