Nope, its just the realization that the ASOIAF world has a near infinite number of possible crazy ass stories to be told, even in comparison to LOTR. Its the whole good vs evil thing that's limited LOTR, but in asoiaf it (obviously) isn't as clear-cut as that which lends realism and more mystique then any other high fantasy novel I've ever read. I read through LOTR including the hobbit, silmarillion and lost tales by 7th grade, by the time most kids were still on Goosebumps I was reading college level.. I appreciate a good book lol and more so a good fictional universe.

You're def on some next lvl ish. I personally think something like this is best in moderation. I don't want it to take the Dune route (story continued by son after the dad died plus 20 billion prequels) and i def don't want a bunch of writing teams getting involved. One man, one voice, one story. I hate seeing a good story exploited and pimped out in a cash grab

This is why you might enjoy it

If its public domain you don't make money on it. Anyone writing a "contribution" may do so simply because they enjoy the story, may respect the author as a whole and do it as kind if labor-of-love, and at worst it would draw people just wanting to get their name out more ya know. Long as you don't go anywhere near GRRMs storylines, like a story about the red priest headquarters in asshai or the five forts that border the "land of the shrykes". No making Ned pop up and kill Payne then joffrey haha.

Even if it just had to be uploaded to a certain official website for people to read it on ya know.

The only thing I truly wished would have happened that I kind of hate GRRM for is something about the red wedding. I really, really wanted to see robb pick up a steak knife and take out at least one Frey. I feel with how they are written they should have died taking out more then one person, Robb totally could have taken out a couple dopey Freys before death.

Hahaha, you highlighted my problem, its no longer one man one voice. It's a bunch of randoms effing with the storyline with a completely diff writing style and set of ideas who lazily piggybacked off the work GRRM put in.

I'm sure a lot of people may like that and that's ok, I just wont be one of them

However, if the show did something along that line id watch it if its same writing team and they consulted GRRM. Can't be some obsessed college kid working for extra credit

I cant do the type of fantasy reading or watching that you guys are taking about with the Star Wars/Star Trek/anything with space or other worlds. I get bored really fast

I've always had a soft spot for dragon books and mages and anything with fantasy warfare (except space war)
I'm the opposite. I do good with Space shows and bad with fantasy type ones
^ exactly! That's warborgs cup of tea. Is he not into GOT? I just notice I've not seen him on this thread
Strange how I've seen this as I've only read about 10 posts in this whole thread.

No, I normally don't have HBO. Direct TV let us have it for free for 3 months but GOT was in off season. My Wife called and cancelled some channels last month and they offered another 3 months. So I'm catching some. I don't know what day they show a new episode. I saw Tyrion's trial (it seems they showed it for 2 weeks). Then tonight they showed a verdict being passed(after something happened).

I would have to say jumping around and only 2 episode have I seen more then not seen. I do believe the second one is the most up to date one.

I don't know what dish has...I have direct. A 5 year can distract a person quite a bit. With GOT if I can't watch it at the start I really can't get in to the rest. Except with this trial of Tyrion...it catches my attention
