Fishing season 2k14!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up here off the panhandle I can be in 75ft of water not even two miles from the beach. Then it really tapers off. About another 10-15 miles itll go from 150-300+ and you can be in 1,000+ i another 20-30 miles or so if you go in the right direction.

The boys in SE Florida are in 300+ easily within kayak distance from the beach, but you gotta take the good with the bad. We have PLENTY of days that there isnt even a ripple on the beach but down there a good day is like a rough day here!

I have another charter in the morning but its looking iffy. I hope we can get out.

Here was my clients catch from Friday. That big snapper is a HOG from a kayak!

that big red is a hog anywhere, even more impressive in a yak!

Yea are correct on that 300+ ft within kayaking distance. There's even some spots in ft lauderdale where you can reach 45-60ft depth within casting distance of beach and it's not an inlet.

But on our calm days being like your rough days that is certainly false. For example today wind blowing a steady 3knots or so and it was flat calm not a wave in sight. A lot of out summer days here in SE florida are flat calm before the storms roll in and seas pick up in late afternoon.

All the south Florida yakkers I know say that we have it made with our calm seas. Its very rare for us to get a ground swell up here. The Atlantic pretty much always has a ground swell, we rarely do.

Not to say yall dont have calm days, but we generally do, of course not lately which is my busiest time of year!!

Yep no need to kill them just beautiful fish doing what they do. Although I'm sure a ton of those babies she was guarding were eating by mayan's

Been raining around here on and off for the last week and a half and finally looks like it's letting up around next Tuesday. Rivers and creeks are so high it's impossible for me to fish or collect now sadly.

Caught this guy Sat night.

First few casts I had a hit on the buzzbait, missed him, waited 15 mins, casted to him again and this time on my knees as I can see him in the shallows messing around, he followed my buzzbait all the way to the bank within 2 feet of me and then blows up on in it and misses it, even with a trailer hook. Waited about 10 mins and this time I changed it up, put on a rubber green crawdad, he slammed it and had it on for all of 3 seconds and he came off. Then I switched to a 4" worm and nailed him after a few gills played with it. Didn't catch any cats, did have a turtle clean my bluegill head off after about 3 hours.

Fished with my friends last night for a while and we caught about 20 each. I caught a few gills, two pumpkinseeds, tons of gigantic fully colored green sunfish, and a few yellow bullheads.
