I just got this guy last week and he seems to be settling in okay. Other than the stuff I have read online does anyone have any extra advice for care?

i grew one from that size to around 6" before the heater got stuck in the on position and cooked him. I fed NLS Cichlid 1mm pellets, temp 78.

Good luck with him.

I have a l-114 around 2 inches and never see it eat I have had it for about 2 months

Nice! How long did that take for it to hit 6"? I have read that the NLS pellets are a great diet for them. Think they would eat the discus pellets the same?

Very cool pleco but very shy when they are small. Have lots of hiding places and make sure ur water is always perfect. The exotic plecos are more sensitive than common ones

Yeah no worries with the water, I keep discus so having pristine water is part of having them so that part shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the heads up though. I have read that they hide a lot until they get older. I wonder if I should keep him in my 40g breeder tank for a bit long to let him grow out before adding it to my main 120g tank?

I have heard that the juvies hide a lot and become a lot more confident as they get older. Hopefully that is the case.

Very nice looking :)

Thanks! I can't wait to see how it grows out.

Yes, NLS spectrum pellets. I feed mine now Xtreme wafers (since the bolivian rams will steal the NLS pellets). I think mine also ate the coconut threads from the coconut cave.
These will grow slowly until about 2.5-3", then go through a growth spurt, and slow down again once they grow over 4.5-5" (all SL).
They should be ok in the 40g until after the growth spurt.
Supposedly they may eat carrots and sweet potatoes (mine don't); the beta carrotene supposedly will help with the orange color. Hopefully the orange on the tail will stay, but more likely the leopard pattern will take over.
