Not many species mix well with T ellioti.... the males can be quite nasty in my experience.

Yes mine was. Had to sell him because he took over the150g and larger cichlids like a syn and JD.

Thorichthys Helleri are just as nice looking but with more blue spots and more yellow base colours than reds but they are much more peaceful... you could get some of those and some Guianacara geayi or something equally laid back like Blue Acaras or Keyholes.
