I have heard many people say that they have at least one parrot grandparent, but I have also heard often that its just a genetic trait thats line bred.

Either way my short body texas have paired up, the female is only 2".

My question is, the eggs are from just today but they are still white. If they are actually containing parrot blood then it would make sense that the males are infertile right?

interesting outcome if my male is infertile as I assumed they were just line bred. Either way a thread wouldn`t be complete without pics

With 4x parrots in the tank I am surprised the two texas paired up. But just goes to prove by my larger male that the black mark in dorsal fin = female is not true.

My two green texas are pairing up as well and they both have the black blotch in the dorsal

yeah I think we hit the nail on the head with that sexing technique. I know it works with Trimac and FH though.
Good luck with your pair, I doubt this pair will get it right the first time, especially with the female so small. But heres a pic of the dad

both male and female have blacks but females have a bigger one.

I know where this one came from so I have no doubts on its fertility... but it has always showed black in the dorsal so that's why I assumed female. I guess I'll know when I pair it with something.

Huh I've always picked my females by the size of their side blotches young its hard to tell but females usually have large noticeable blotches while male fade into their pattern with age but since you said that I looked at my female and she is sporting it but doen't always
