I just watched The Raid 2 and it was pretty good. The story is a little hard to follow but the fight scenes are top notch..ultraviolent action.

lol, I go into kungfu movies knowing I won't get some of the plot, really there for the action. I loved the Raid 2, I really enjoy seeing different styles, that Silat is brutal!!

Last week I picked up "Kickin It Shaolin Style" from Wal-Mart for $5. 12 old school "shaolin" flicks on 3 dvds. I have only seen the first four movies. Typical shaolin plots, great kungfu, but like old vhs quality picture. I'll give it 3
outta 5 stars as an enthusiast :)

Who was doing the Silat in the film?I'm not familiar with the discipline.

The guy who did the fight choreography is a Pencak Silat master. His name is Yayan Ruhuian, he played Mad Dog. The star of the movie Iko Uwais is a long time student of his. Pencak Silat is Indonesian Martial Arts.

I've heard of it before but never really researched it.I like the movements...That kitchen scene was awesomely done. The beginning face off was the best I've seen in a long time and those hook knives...my goodness!

lol, 2 of my favorite parts of the movie, the kitchen scene and the Karambit Knives!
Sucks, I guess this second movie didn't do as well as expected. There were talks of a 3rd, possibly with Tony Jaa and they were going to bring back Joe Taslim (sp?) but it probably won't happen :(

Maybe they will do a straight to DVD release...So those are real knives in the discipline, and who is Joe Taslim?

....just looked him up.

Yeah those are called karambit knives, There is a specific Silat style that uses them, Im not sure of the name though.
Joe Taslim was the team leader in the first movie, he has an extensive Judo background.
Ruhuian also has some Judo experience and liked seeing them work together. Hoped to see more :(
