My 30 tall had been looking very empty recently and I'm in the need (well I guess it's more want than need :)) to get some more fish in it. My stock is down to 1 blue gourami, 1 sailfin molly, 1 koi angel (I don't know how much longer he'll last since he's missing an eye), 2 bronze (aeneus) Corys, and 1 asian bumblebee cat (pseudomystus siamensis). Since catfish are tied for my favorite type of fish I'd like to turn it into a majority catfish tank. The only problem with this is that most cats dwell on the bottom other than a few like glass cats and debauwis which prefer tons of current (my current isn't the strongest) to swim against. I'm looking for an (or several) attractive cats that are moderately active and possibly swim all around the tank. Seems like I'm lucky but a few of my cats which are known for being more sluggish and lethargic are very active such as my asian bb that swims at all levels (including the top) of the tank! If possible I'd like to possibly try Synodontis of some species. There's a few at my LFS that are swimming around quite a bit (they're multipunctatus) but I'm not sure they'd fit in my 30 tall for life. Some other synos I like are nigriventris, angelicus (angelicus are one of my favorites), multipunctatus as I already stated, and nigrita. However I've never kept synos and I'm not an expert on them. I've also considered getting a banjo cat, even though they're the exact opposite if the description of a cat I'd like :). Feel free to suggest any other types of catfish you guys think I'd like, you'd be surprised at how many rare cats are at my many LFSs so they can be rare as well. I just don't want to overstock and overload my bioload. So what cats do you guys think would do good?

BTW. The dimensions are (24" x 12" x 24"), temp is 76-78, pH is 7.6, and filtration is a penguin 200 hob.

Your tank is not really the right dimensions for a cat fish tank. Of those you mentioned the upside down cats might be okay but most others would feel cramped I would think. I could be wrong and hopefully others will weigh in to help out

Would it be possible for me to add a Hoplo? There's one for $10 at my LFS and it has tons of personality.

I thought about that (the SA bumblebee) but I have enough bumblebee color in the tank now :).

Oh forgot you had a Asian bumblebee. What about some more corries or a modtom catfish. You could might be able to fit a banjo

Madtoms are something I've been wanting to try for a long time now but I've never got around to it yet, I didn't think I'd have room for one and that it wouldn't be ok with my temperature.

If some people who have kept madtoms could give me some info on whether one would be good in my setup or not I'd greatly appreciate it.
