Thanks for the info guys.

I originally wanted a 10ft x 3ft tank but that will only give me about a total of 6" clearance between the walls so I might just go with 8ft tank instead unless they can build something in between.

Do they make metal stand too?

The recommended thickness will depend on the height of the tank. Here's a thread that gives information on figuring it out.

Also, any tank builder will give their recommendation for thickness.

Mine will be 3/4". The height of the tank decides the thickness. Their 24" tall tanks are mostly 1/2"

I do steel stands. I'm in north jersey. There's a few people on this site that can give you referrals on my stands if interested.
