Hi everyone, I'm gonna be getting a fahaka puffer next year (changing up the tank stock), so I need some help on the tank requirements, diet, habitat, etc. It's gonna be in his own tank. What's the max size they get? How fast do they usually grow from babies to adults? What should the water movement be like? What's their main diet at a younger age and how about for adults? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

I'm gonna say great fish!!! Tons of personality. 180 gallon would be the smallest tank. Bigger is better with them. Diet raw shrimp, krill, snails, cockle, when they get bigger crayfish. It's important they eat food with a hard shell to keep there beak/teeth trimmed. Water quality is a must!!! Keep an eye on all water conditions. The can get to be 20 inches or so but most I've seen are around 16-18 inches.

Mine is a little over a year and is about a ft. She is in a 150 show, which I think will be large enough. I have black diamond sandblasting sand about 3" deep. She just started throwing some sand on her back recently. She has never really tried to bury herself.

Nice! Does the sand color really matter? I'm gonna be using red colored sand. Should I add some pieces of driftwood? I'm planning on getting one about 4-5" :)

I don't think substrate color matters. The need hiding places. I have a big hollow log, fake, that it spends yome in. Tall jungle is appreciated. I use plastic but a buddy uses live.

So would it be good if I just got a bunch of driftwood? R they pretty active? Or just depends on fish?
