Over there
I got these 3 hoping to get a breeding pair but now that they've grown up more I think they're all female :/ can you guys confirm this for me?
Sorry the pics are kinda blurry. They just won't stay still ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1407037918.036860.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1407037932.990580.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1407037946.810868.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1407037960.213586.jpg

Males and females are easy to tell apart and can be sexed even when they are very small. You have 3 females there. If you didn't, you would have had fry a long time ago. One of them has beautiful coloring.

How can you tell the difference? I tried googling pics but it was still kinda hard for me to tell since I'm not really a cichlid person. I only figured they all were cuz someone told me that only females get the red spots and they were all gettin them

Females have color in their fins and the orange spots on their bellies. The males are generally just black and white. It's kind of surprising you didn't get one male. But if you see one that is just black and white get it. They will breed even at a small size. You will have fry in no time.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna have to keep an eye out unless any of you are local to me and wanna trade 1 of the females for a male. I wanted to get more so I can get a for sure pair but these were the only 3 left and they were only like a 1/2"

Interesting. What size tank do you have them in? Are they the only cichlids? Any tankmates? Also, how is the interaction between the 3, are there any squabbles or are they generally harmonious with each other?

I remember when I got back into the hobby I had wanted 2 female convicts, but later axed the idea as I started discovering all the other types of cichlids.

They're just in a 29g with 5 mahseer's that I'm growing out. They get along fine but occasionally there's some chasing.

All females bro! LOL you need to get them a mate xD
Haha I know man! I need a bunch of babies cuz I just got them to breed feeders.
