What type of submersible pumps are good?

Another vote for Laguna. I've been running their largest pump on my tank for several years and it's been great. One of the most efficient pumps on the market.

Don't make the mistake of buying a cheap pump that will end up costing you a fortune to run.
 
Fish street. Just type in jebao DC 12000 look for the fish street page. The lagunas are a nice pump as well. Allot use them with good luck.

Another Laguna user. I use two of them and they work great. I take them out of the cage and zip tie a piece of PVC to the intake full of slots. The cage lets K1 media through and can cause all kinds of grief! Plus the cage is pretty big for no reason. I use a couple of Speedwave DC pumps too and am pretty happy with them. The Jeabo are less expensive but physically all the DC pumps look about the same. That makes me wonder if they are all produced by the same company.

I've been diggin the Diablo dc 5500 as well. 1450gph at 50watts but pretty sure they are the same as the old speed waves.

They look the same to me. Time will tell how they last but I'm liking mine so far.

read wavline and royal exclusive are the only ones who design dc pumps, the rest are prior generation wavelines.
