Disapearing bettas!!!!

That is crazy. I thought my cichlids were too small to be so mean. I guess I was wrong

They are not "mean", they are just the way they are by design in order to survive in nature
 
I underatand. I will never under estimate cichlids again.

They may have just died and the bodies got finished off.

I rescued them from a tank that had high ammonia readings for over a month. They never moved much when I got them. Idk why I didn't think of putting them in a cup in the first place.

You would be superised what fits in a chichlids mouth. here is one of my oscars and a JD eating frogs. Notice that the frogs are WAY bigger then the mouths?
They ate them just fine. small mice to.
They will just keep gulping and spitting until they fit.

Wow... Well I may have to rehome my Vieja because he is way bigger then all of my fish. I dont want him eating any of my cichlids

Unless you have a 12 inch syn with 4 inch cichlid it shouldn't eat them. A Dempsey and gt should be able to survive with a vieja. I have 1.5 inch con in with cichlids that can easily swallow and yet don't. My cichlids won't usually eat other cichlids unless they are super tiny and I have a particularly evil fish. They will however slaughter any small non cichlid

Deuxe I already been down the road of "why would I" maybe you should read the previous post. Im not gonna beat myself up over fish that have already been eaten. Poor fish become tasty treats everyday when used as feeders. Whats done is done. I just want to find out who is eating my smaller fish so I can rehome him because I have fish in my tank that are pretty close to the size of the bettas.
