Black diamond and black diamond Leopoldi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Look we can split hairs on collection points grades etc... but the bottom line is a "BD" looks a lot different then a classic Leo, and costs a hell of a lot more. For BD you want to look for dark black (no hen blood) big whitish spots, three rows of outer spotting belly spots over 8 inches. You are in NY there is a great true BD breeder on LI if that is what you want.

But here

Leo on the left Bd on the right. Hope this helps

Very true people have different ideas of what is bd and what isn't to be honest if a ray was a hybrid but being sold at bd money and I liked it that much I would still buy it but point out my feelings to the seller so it helps him to tell the differences in the future

Is your BD missing a large portion of it's tail? What's the fish that is above the BD?

Yes his mother bit it off when he was a pup, lamenta... madagascar cichlid (not ray friendly btw i ahad to move them)

I think the term bd is loosely used now and a lot of the rays people class as bd are not

But hey it's no skin off my nose what people want to call rays
