Channel Catfish Growth

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Regardless of stock levels, all of my tanks receive a 75-90% WC every three days. I find that even in relatively heavily stocked systems, assuming there is adequate biological filtration, the nitrates never get a chance to get above ~20-30ppm. Add a large Pothos plant (or 10), and you're diamonds.

I understand that this is not always possible for everyone's schedule, but believe me, the fish will reward you with increased growth, color, and vigor.

Thanks for the tip! Where would one obtain pothos? The only time I've ever seen it in person was last week and they were being planted for display, I wasn't going to say "I'll just take 5 of those" :)

Well the channel regardless is going to have to wait for a while. Went collecting last night and I thought I got a nice Stoneroller but I'm starting to think White Sucker which that alone will add a ton of bioload it's already 6.5". Any experience from here about suckers?

With how much you talk them up, I'm surprised you're letting a sucker dictate getting a channel!

Lol, me too :D. I'll get a Channel someday soon for sure since they're my all time favorite fish. I'll just let the sucker growout of that tank first since it'll get 24" then I'll get a Channel/
