Yellow Belly Pacu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm an idiot!:banghead: I was floating him for 15 minutes with the light on! And I released him in the tank and sat and looked at him for a good 2 minutes with the lights on and I was wondering why he was frantically swimming around.i shut the lights off and it seemed to help, I hope I didn't screw up his acclimation by having the lights on a couple minutes at first smh.:o

Will do, I need to pick some up because I'm not used to having an herbivore fish.everything I have on hand is for carnivores. His fins were pale when he first got in the tank but now they are showing signs of yellow :)

Just curious what size tank is it in? Almost ironic op started this thread because he is afraid the pacu will get to big for his 500.

180gallon for now tank is 6 foot long 2 feet wide, I have an Intex pool I can get going yet again if it does in fact get much bigger than I thought and than I had planned for. For now though he is in a 180 he should be fine in there for a little while. But I'm pretty confident in Rapps words. He said they get about 18 inches maximum so I am trusting him.i will make adjustments if that turns out to be false. I would not have gotten it if I believed it got to the same sizes as the black or red bellied pacu.i am going into this skeptical that their could be a pacu species easily manageable for home aquaria. If nobody tried to keep this species said to get only 18 inches we would never know how practical they are to keep as far as actual recorded sizes go.So far I am optimistic about this particular pacu species/type. We will see how it goes. If it gets much much larger than the said 18 inches I will be calling Jeff back lol. Only thing we can do is try it out.
