I see the african dwarf frogs like this at the big box shops here.

We do have glo fish, if you know about them then you know why they were chemically engineered.
It is in their DNA I sucked one up in the gravel vac and sheared 3/4 inch of scales/skin off of him. He's healed now and you can't tell.
In other words the florescence/phosphorus grew back with the skin and scales.

We don't buy that dyed stuff like the frogs as like others I feel it's wrong.

Only a matter of time before you see day-glo furry pets

This.

These were genetically engineered to glow, not injected with dye. Different in my opinion...

Anybody know if lifespan is altered with these chemically altered creatures? My neighbor just went out to petsmart and got a couple glowfish for his 15gal and the employee said they live normal lifespans, but anybody know the deal on this? I suppose IF none of these altered creatures are wild caught, live to normal sizes with normal lifespans and are not released into the wild... I wouldn't have a huge problem with it I guess

Check out the glo fish page FAQ.
these are bred this way now that they were altered.
Yes they live normal spans.
Stay away from the daino's as out of 8 tanks set up we do weekly water changes every Sunday.
All the tetra glo's made it all 5 of the daino's died. NO OTHER fish were lost in 8 tanks.
and we haven't lost a fish since ( feeders excluded )
the tetras are tuff as nails I vacced the skin/scales right off one and he not only made it with a slight tx it regrew the yellow glo color.

The phosphorus in these FW glo's come from natural deep SW fish.

Cool..I ripped my neighbor first for buying them because I thought they were a dyed fish, but I feel a bit better about them now that I know a little more about them. He got the pink and green tetras
